A fiddler friend of ours, Barry Shultz, uses the image of an acrobat on horseback to describe a band. The two are a team. The horse's job is to provide a steady, evenly moving platform. The acrobat's is to dazzle the audience. I try to keep Barry's imagery in mind when we're playing; the strong, steady horse of a rhythm guitar supporting Tony's fiddle acrobatics.
